THE BASICS OF THE FIGHT
In Elvenar, you will not get around fighting from time to time. Who wants to be victorious, has a lot to consider.
Essentially, the free strategy game Elvenar consists of two aspects: building the city and turn-based combat. In this article, let’s focus on the latter and explain how the battles work and what you need to consider in the run-up to a fight so as not to send all your troops to their deaths.
Your first fight will be in Elvenar as you explore the provinces around your city and seek to capture relics. Although you will continue to trade here too, if you do not have the goods and supplies you need, it’s just the violent way. This, of course, requires military units that you train in your barracks.
CHOOSE YOUR UNITS WISELY!
If it comes to fight in the fantasy game Elvenar, you have to put together your troops for the fight. The different units are grouped into squads, of which you may lead several to the battlefield. The number of soldiers per squad can be increased by research. But not only the quantity is important. You should always choose the troops that are most likely to win you a battle.
Before each fight, you choose which units you want to take to battle with.
So pay attention to what the enemy opposes you! This will be displayed in the same window where you also select your units. Which enemies you encounter on the battlefield and how many they are depends on the type of province and its distance from your city. The further you advance on the map of the provinces, the stronger and bigger will be the opposing armies. You should also remember that each unit has strengths and weaknesses. In Elvenar, the classic “scissors, stone, paper” principle applies here: a heavy ranged unit, for example, is especially effective against light melee and melee fighters, but has the disadvantage of mages and heavy melee fighters. If you mouse over a unit type, you will at least see against which enemies he is particularly strong.
ROUND BY THE WAY TO VICTORY
In combat, your enemy and you turn your own units round the hexfield battlefield. You always start on the left side, facing the opponent. Sometimes there are obstacles on the field blocking the way. But they are not a problem for ranged fighters, since their arrows and other projectiles fly over the objects. To win, you have to eliminate all enemy troops, while of course you should survive as many as possible.
The fighting of Elvenar is reminiscent of the wedding of the round strategy games.
During a battle in Elvenar, you have a few more options besides attacking. You can increase combat speed, skip a move, or give up if you do not stand a chance of winning. Then you defeat, but prevent the loss of more troops. In addition, a fight can end automatically at any time. This means that the rest of the battle is diced by the computer.
